8 Reasons Why I Love Working at Procurify
Imagine you’re in the middle of an interview, trying your best to articulate a perfectly-crafted answer, when suddenly you hear a loud THUMP behind you. You turn around to find out that someone has fallen face-first off a Segway outside of the boardroom that you’re sitting in. Definitely not something that you would expect, but then again, my experience at Procurify wasn’t anything like I imagined either – it was so much better.
Before starting my 3-month internship, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into. I knew that I had always wanted to experience the #startuplife firsthand, but I didn’t know what this would entail exactly. Well, it turned out to be quite a roller coaster ride with lots of twists, turns, and surprises around every corner. Put simply, it was awesome. But you don’t have to take my word for it, here are eight reasons why working at Procurify is the best decision you will make.
1.
The Starter Pack Swag
A typical first day in any office likely consists
of receiving a cubicle, a key card, and maybe a mug etched with the
company logo if you’re lucky. Procurify does it a little
differently. You will be welcomed into your new family with your
very own Procurify starter pack filled with goodies such as stickers
to plaster on your laptop, a Welcome Guide, and your own signature
green t-shirt (which is super
comfortable by the way!).
2. The
Four-Legged Friends
The people at Procurify are pretty great, but it’s arguably
the pet visitors that are the best part of the team. There’s Ringo,
who can be found napping on beanbag chairs, Mila, who can’t get
enough of Ringo, and Roxy, who is just plain
adorable.
3. The
toys
Let’s face it, most of us are kids at heart (whether we
want to admit it or not). Well at Procurify, this mindset is
embraced with open arms. From cruising around on a Segway (or
“Swagway”, as it’s called), playing in intense Super Smash Bros
tournaments, or venturing to Procurify North for a ping-pong match
with the Sales team, you’ll never be bored at work again. Just be
careful to avoid getting in the crossfire of any Nerf Gun wars that
might be taking place.
4. The Snack corner
This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you can
weave your way past the Super Smash Bros game that’s going on,
you’ll find yourself at Procurify’s snack corner. Whether you’re
craving something salty or sweet, you can probably find it there.
(Pro tip: sour keys are the most popular snack, so if you’ve been
eyeing them, go for it before they’re all gone!)
5. The Town Hall
Erase every preconceived belief you have
about what a typical “Town Hall” meeting entails, because
Procurify’s version is nothing like that. Every two weeks, get comfy
on a beanbag chair and find out what each team has been up to.
Consisting of endless bursts of optimism from Aman and a plethora of
memes, this is guaranteed to be the most fun you will ever have at a
company-wide meeting. There’s also a portion dedicated to all the
new team members at their first Town Hall, but my lips are sealed
– you’ll have to find out more about this on your own.
6. The company
activities
The newly-established Procurify Social Committee is
dedicated to planning company-wide activities that will not only
give you the chance to get to know people from different teams
better, but to also have a blast while doing it. From kayaking, sky
diving, and an all-out Olympic food festival, there’s always an
event to look forward to.
7. The lessons
learned
With one of the company’s main missions being to
“Find a Better Way”, working at Procurify means that you’re going to
do a whole lot of learning. If you have an idea that you want to try
out, there’s a good chance that you’ll have the opportunity to do
it. Taking a risk means that the outcome might be better than you
expected, or not-so-great, but regardless, you can always count on
learning something new.
8. The
people
How many times have you heard employees say that
the best part of their company are “the people”? Well I don’t mean
to sound like a cliché, but at Procurify, the best part really
is the team itself. Not only is
everyone super friendly and welcoming, but in the true spirit of a
team, they support each other. No matter how busy they are, they
will always make time to help each other in whatever it is that they
need help. You will definitely never hear the words “it’s not my
job” muttered around.
After reading this, it’s probably pretty easy to see why I never
wanted my internship to end. In those three short months, I was able
to work with some incredibly talented individuals, witness some
amazing accomplishments, and learn a whole lot along the way. To
quote one of Aman’s favourite sayings, Procurify is “building a
billion-dollar company” and I can’t wait to see it happen. GOOOOO
TEAM!
